So.. After six months of my KaiOS Nokia 800 Tough[1], my phone gave weird errors and it stopped working all-together. It stated it could no longer send text messages or could connect to my phone provider. Given there were no issues with my phone provider, I rebooted the phone and then again. Still no connection. I decided to reset the phone, without the sim card in it, and still the issues remained.
Still unsure what to do I connected it to my laptop to try to connect with it... It failed. The phone itself shut down and never turned on again. And yes, it was fully charged.
So and then there's my sim. I put in the sim into a different older Android phone and..... all my contacts were gone! The usual passcode aside, it seemed it was wiped of everything. And then, in that other phone, the sim card stopped working. At first I had a good connection but then that connection was gone and the phone said that there was no sim available.
I genuinely have no idea what could have happened to also break the sim card other than guessing that somehow during the charging session yesterday morning must have somehow caused a slight overload of electricity in the system, which is odd because I use the standard charger delivered with the phone. I am already ordering a new sim card now.
So, and then there's the question of the new phone. While I truly enjoyed KaiOS and its simplicity, I decided to just go back to an Android based system instead. In this case I am talking about the Ulefone Armor 24[1] and the holster[3] for it. I am not going to create an advertisement for this phone on this website, but suffice to say it's a phone for people with big hands, with a stunning 22000mAh battery and a nice little light on it.
The camera on it is shit, but that's not an issue as I don't take many pics anyway. But otherwise an -over half a kilogram- phone is always awesome to have.
